LP SmartSide Engineered Wood Siding for St. Louis Homes
LP SmartSide is an engineered wood siding built for real weather, not just good looks. Every strand is treated to the core with LP’s SmartGuard process, then Casey Exteriors measures, installs, seals and trims it to hold up through St. Louis hail, humidity and freeze thaw cycles.

Why We Install LP SmartSide
We added LP SmartSide because it gives St. Louis homeowners a real wood look without real wood’s upkeep, backed by a treatment process built specifically for hail and moisture. It is a different material than the vinyl siding we have installed for years, and for the right home it is the better fit.
- Zinc borate, a naturally derived additive, treated through the core to resist termites and fungal decay.
- Adhesive resins bonded into every strand for added impact resistance against hail.
- Water-resistant waxes coating each wood strand or fiber before assembly.
- A resin-saturated overlay as the outermost layer of weather protection.
- Made from renewable wood resources. LP states its SmartSide line is verified carbon negative.
The install matters as much as the siding. Every LP SmartSide project we sell is measured, installed, sealed and trimmed by Casey Exteriors.
LP SmartSide Lap, Shake, Panel and Trim
LP SmartSide is one engineered wood system available in several profiles, so your siding, trim, fascia and any accent shake can match.
Lap Siding
Cedar Texture or Brushed Smooth, primed or in 16 ExpertFinish colors. Pairs well with homes finished in stucco, stone or brick.
Shake Lap Siding
A 12 inch nominal width with a 7 to 10 inch reveal, or a narrower 8 inch profile with a 5 to 6 inch reveal. Installs straight edge or staggered.
Panel & Vertical Siding
Achieves a board and batten look, in three texture options, treated with the same SmartGuard process as the rest of the line.
Trim & Fascia
Finishes window and door openings, corners and rooflines with a matching cedar look, in 16 factory finished colors.
LP SmartSide Textures and Colors
Every LP SmartSide product comes in Cedar Texture or Brushed Smooth (panel and vertical siding adds a third texture option). Choose ExpertFinish, LP’s factory-applied prefinished color system, or have it primed and ready to paint.
Cedar Texture
A deep, realistic cedar grain with defining shadow lines that mimic the look of traditional wood siding.
Brushed Smooth
A subtle nod to painted wood, for a cleaner, more modern look that still reads as timeless.
ExpertFinish colors: 16 standard colors plus a 6-color Naturals Collection of wood-look finishes. LP’s 2026 Color of the Year is Sand Dunes, a neutral shade. Primed and ready to paint is also available for a fully custom color.
The LP SmartSide 5/50 Limited Warranty
LP calls this its 5/50 warranty. Here is what that means, in plain English.
- Years 1 to 5: 100 percent labor and material replacement.
- Years 6 to 50: prorated material replacement coverage.
- Hail damage up to 1.75 inches in diameter is covered when the siding is properly installed and maintained.
- Installation errors do not void the entire warranty, only the coverage for the area affected by the error, per LP.
- The exact proration percentages by year.
- Full exclusions list.
- Whether coverage transfers to a new owner, and any registration requirement or deadline.
LP directs homeowners to its Customer Support line, (800) 450-6106, or the full warranty document on lpcorp.com, for these details.
Our part: Casey Exteriors backs the installation with our own workmanship warranty.

What is LP SmartSide siding made of?
LP SmartSide is an engineered wood siding. LP treats every strand through the core, not just the surface, with an advanced formula of waxes, adhesive resins and zinc borate, then finishes it with a resin-saturated overlay.
How long does the LP SmartSide warranty last?
LP calls it a 5/50 warranty: 5 years of full labor and material replacement, then prorated material coverage through year 50. Ask us for the full warranty document for the exact proration schedule.
Is LP SmartSide siding hail resistant?
LP’s warranty covers hail damage up to 1.75 inches in diameter when the siding is properly installed and maintained, which matters in a market like St. Louis.
What is the difference between Cedar Texture and Brushed Smooth?
Cedar Texture has a deep, realistic wood grain with shadow lines. Brushed Smooth is a cleaner, more modern look that reads like painted wood. Panel and vertical siding adds a third texture option.
Do I have to paint LP SmartSide siding?
Not if you choose ExpertFinish, LP’s factory-applied prefinished color system. A primed, paint-ready option is also available if you want a fully custom color.
Should I choose LP SmartSide or Royal Vinyl Siding?
Both are durable, low-maintenance choices. LP SmartSide gives you a genuine wood texture and an engineered wood warranty; Royal Vinyl Siding by Westlake never needs paint at all and carries its own Double Lifetime Warranty. See our Royal Vinyl Siding page, and we will price both at your estimate.
